摘要: Length scales have been identified as the main criteria in design of effective metallic glass (MG) heterostructures. Spanning six orders magnitude (nm to mm), these length include different regions like shear transformation zones, where collective shearing atoms order a nanometer size takes place. The second region we are interested includes critical plastic zone size, which varies among MG formers between 10 μm and few millimeters. This is very important scale For example, composites exhibit heterostructure with second-phase spacing, comparable spacing size. It was suggested that, this case, bands do not transform into cracks but can be absorbed softer phase.
