摘要: Twenty-four patients with cancer met predetermined criteria for a diagnosis of zygomycosis over 10-year period at our institution. All had hematologic malignancy, and most either neutropenia or steroid use as risk factor. Pulmonary involvement mimicking invasive aspergillosis was the common presentation, dissemination seen in 58% on whom autopsies were performed. Three-fourths pulmonary pathogenic microorganisms other than zygomycetes isolated from respiratory specimens. The sensitivity cultures detecting specimens low. A culture positive typically preterminal finding fatal, acute cases. Two-thirds died. Favorable outcome seemed to correlate lack involvement, surgical debridement, neutrophil recovery, cumulative total amphotericin B dose 2000 mg. Therapy high-dose B, combined aggressive surgery immune reconstitution, offers best chance survival zygomycosis.
