摘要: A telephone survey was conducted to examine the use of manual hyperinfation (MHI) by physiotherapists in intensive care units (ICUs) 32 Australian teaching hospitals. 100 per cent response rate obtained from senior ICU physiotherapists. Results showed that 91 respondents used hyperinflation as a physiotherapy treatment technique. There strong agreement on components technique, preferred position, contraindications and perceived benefits but considerable variation duration treatment, number breaths set circuits used. Fewer than 55 stated maximum airways pressure 40 cm H 2 O or less with MHI only 31 monitored pressure. These results are compared previously published surveys.
