摘要: Vertical litterfall and lateral litter movement were monitored in the riparian zone of Birthday Creek, a small upland rainforest stream north Queensland, from June 1987 to May 1990. Total (mean = 484 g m−2 year-1) was low comparison with other tropical sites both within Australia elsewhere. Litterfall distinctly seasonal, maxima occurring spring (October-November) minima winter (June–July). Tropical storms caused short-term increases litterfall, especially wood fraction. Overall, laterally transported contributed 6.8% total input section stream. Lateral varied according bank slope microtopographic features not related wind.
