A study of the effect of haze upon Umkehr measurements

摘要: The effect of atmospheric haze upon Umkehr observations is calculated in two ways. First, observed curves are compared with computed reconstructed from simultaneous direct soundings the vertical ozone distribution. difference between gives ‘experimental’ effect. In second method, for model atmospheres and without haze, giving a ‘theoretical’ When haze-effect normalized to zero solar zenith angle 60°, both exhibit same characteristics, viz., ‘correction’ be subtracted an (with haze) curve negative at all angles, correction reaches maximum near 81°, there small reversal 87–88°. Application derived corrections evaluation procedure results slightly higher content just below main lower elsewhere.
