摘要: Production of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL) by enterobacteria is an important resistance mechanism against antimicrobial beta-lactamics. We tested 498 bacterial strains isolated from two tertiary-care teaching hospitals for ESBL production, using screening breakpoints aztreonam and third generation cephalosporins, according to CLSI recommendations. Among these isolates, 155 were positive the test, 121 (78%) confirmed clavulanic acid combination disk method. found a high frequency (24%) among Enterobacteriaceae, with 57.4% Klebsiella pneumoniae, 21.4% oxytoca, 7.2% E. coli. In other members non-Klebsiella non-E. coli, prevalence was 21.6%. Ceftriaxone cefotaxime showed higher sensitivity in test (99.2%) when compared ceftazidime, cefpodoxime. However, cefotaxime/cefotaxime plus confirmatory (96.7%).
