摘要: The Drosophila retina is patterned by a morphogenetic wave driven the Hedgehog signaling protein. Hedgehog, secreted first neurons, induces neuronal differentiation and hedgehog expression in nearby uncommitted cells, thereby propagating wave. Evidence presented here that zebrafish homolog, Sonic also expressed retinal drives of neurogenesis across retina, strikingly similar to Drosophila. conservation this patterning mechanism unexpected, given highly divergent structures vertebrate invertebrate eyes, supports common evolutionary origin animal visual system.
