摘要: Even in modern societies, women's views are often still overlooked. The author believes that policy makers and social scientists concerned with family need to take greater account of values, preferences life goals. She outlines three lifestyle preference groups for women: work centred women; home adaptive women. Work women a minority. Preference theory predicts men will retain their dominance the labour market, politics other competitive activities, because only minority prepared prioritise jobs (or activities public sphere) same way as men. Home also group, relatively invisible one given current political media focus on working high achievers. prefer give priority private after they marry. Adaptive combine employment without giving fixed either. states exposes bias against full time motherhood fiscal, policies many societies. argues there is redress towards supporting exclusively, at expense homemakers parents.
