摘要: We report direct high-resolution observation of nonlinear steepened plasma waves excited in the wake an intense, self-pinched electron beam. Oscillations both accelerating and deflecting fields are measured, analyzed context linear wave theory. The degree nonlinearity is shown to be consistent with analytical predictions beam self-pinching. impact these results on acceleration focusing schemes discussed.
