Induction of labour, birthweight and perinatal mortality by day of the week.

摘要: Summary There were 66 974 births at the three largest Dublin maternity hospitals in years 1980–1982. Data on numbers of spontaneous and elective births, birthweight perinatal mortality analysed by day week. Perinatal rates highest Wednesdays Saturdays. The rate Sunday was close to average. number deaths per occurred smallest Sundays. Significant variations percentage low found among 19% infants who born electively, but not those after a onset labour. High-risk pregnancies, including many with intrauterine fetal death, induced large from Tuesdays through Saturdays peak Wednesdays. Low risk cases mainly Monday Fridays Fridays. pattern week followed closely that status pregnancies delivered electively. results indicate birth determined highly organized weekly routine selective delivery.
