摘要: Abstract Objective To determine the accuracy of preoperative MRI in predicting cochlear obstruction pediatric patients with a history bacterial meningitis. Methods A case series chart review was performed at tertiary care multidisciplinary implant program. Forty-five children hearing loss that resulted from meningitis were implanted 1991 to 2006. Twenty-five had high-resolution axial T2-weighted images assess for patency. Results Seventeen 25 (68%) surgical evidence obstruction. Six (37.5%) required circummodiolar drill-outs, and one patient (6.25%) underwent placement double array implant. The nine remaining (56%) removal fibrous tissue or drilling inferior basal turn, but did not require manipulation ascending turn achieve full electrode insertion. sensitivity, specificity, positive negative predictive value intraoperative 95 percent confidence intervals 94.1 (71-99), 87.5 (47-99), (71-99) respectively. Conclusion Preoperative T2 may be useful prior
