摘要: Adolescents obviously do not always act in ways that serve their own best interests, even as defined by them. Sometimes perception of risks, survival to adulthood, is larger than the reality; other cases, they underestimate risks particular actions or behaviors. It possible, indeed likely, some adolescents engage risky behaviors because a invulnerability-the current conventional wisdom adults' views adolescent behavior. Others, however, take feel vulnerable point approaching hopelessness. In either case, these perceptions can prompt make poor decisions put them at risk and leave physical psychological harm may have negative impact on long-term health viability. A small planning group was formed develop workshop reconceptualizing vulnerability. With funding from Carnegie Corporation New York, Workshop Adolescent Risk Vulnerability: Setting Priorities took place March 13, 2001, Washington, DC. The workshop's goal into perspective total burden vulnerability face, taking advantage growing societal concern for adolescents, need set priorities meeting adolescents' needs, opportunity apply decision-making perspectives this critical area.
