摘要: This article draws upon responses given by volunteers who work in the ‘Beijing LGBT Centre’ regarding perceptions of sexual-identity, and how Chinese culture affects hidden or open sexual identities lesbian gay people this region. The insights gained from those working carefully to create social change offers an important original contribution field studies China. findings indicate at Beijing Centre are frustrated lack acceptance non-heterosexual relationships among society, disregard bisexual (LGB) government. also illustrate stigmatisation homosexuality China is enacted structural terms (such as policy, legislation positive endorsement governmental socio-political organisations), public expression negative attitudes, beliefs reactions towards LGB people) internalised repression (through fear stigmatisation, subsequent abuse due societal attitudes discrimination). Influenced tradition conforming group values, study show that LBGT believe generally hesitant disclose their identities, reject idea there had been a collective shift increased people. It finds blame for its relationships, state deep-rooted cultural homophobia.
