摘要: The phylum Chlamydiae is based on phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA sequences, clearly separating its members (showing 380% sequence similarity with each other) from all other Bacteria by a long, deep branch in trees (Figure 154). All known this are nonmotile, obligate intracellular bacteria and multiply eukaryotic hosts (animals including humans, or protozoa). Unlike most bacteria, they show developmental cycle characterized morphologically physiologically distinct stages. chlamydiae so far possess small genomes (1–2.4 Mb); metabolically impaired need to import essential building blocks like nucleotides, amino acids, cofactors their host cells.
