摘要: Kidneys of normal female and male Wistar-Kyoto rats were studied by standard morphological techniques morphometry in order to evaluate possible differences the overall kidney morphology between both sexes. Furthermore, we investigated role testosterone (DHT) on treating females with daily DHT injections. Kidney weight volume relation body not significantly different males affected DHT. Differences found distribution among zones. The cortex was larger than females, whereas medulla conspicuously males. greater mainly due a more extensive development proximal tubules. treatment increased their Glomerular similar three groups. Within medulla, difference most prominent inner stripe (14.9% total vs. 8.9% males) also important (7.0 4.8%). absolute epithelial thick ascending limbs this zone This pronounced short loops (approximately 20%) long 10%). values DHT-treated ranged between.
