The relationship between traffic congestion, driver stress and direct versus indirect coping behaviours

摘要: Drivers experiencing rush hour congestion were interviewed using cellular telephones to study stress and coping responses. Measures taken of each driver's predisposition (trait stress) as well their reactions the experience either low or high traffic (state stress). Two interviews conducted during trip when drivers experienced both conditions. Although state was greatest for all condition, a trait X situation interaction obtained, indicating that levels highest congested roadway. In terms behaviours, participants indicated preference direct over indirect behaviours. A greater variety behaviours reported in congestion. Reports aggressive showed increase from Comments on use methodology are offered.
