摘要: In this chapter, we propose that monitoring rehabilitation in estuarine ecosystems by necessity requires quantifying relationships between dynamic processes and sensitive indicators of ecosystem function. While do discuss temperate systems general, emphasis is placed on anadromous salmon habitats the Pacific Northwest because fishes are such a major focus efforts, present some greater challenges linking function one segment their life history to conditions specific habitat. We begin with basic overview ecological socioeconomic significance of, as well anthropogenic effects on, estuaries. Next, briefly summarize various kinds historically practiced regions, review design methods, highlighting unique involved systems. then close summary conclusions.
