摘要: Purpose. Under physiologic conditions, intact internal jugular vein valves (IJVVs) efficiently prevent retrograde venous flow during intrathoracic pressure increase. Chronically elevated central found in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and primary hypertension (PPH) might lead to IJVV incompetence (IJVVI). The aim of this study was analyze the prevalence IJVVI COPD PPH using duplex sonography (DUS). Method. We included 30 patients, 5 100 healthy controls study. diagnosed if blood seen on DUS a Valsalva maneuver. Retrograde intensity evaluated graded according extent duration reflux. Results. IJVVI 18 (60%) all (100%) which significantly different from (27%; p < 0.005). correlated artery pressure. Conclusion. Compared controls, COPDand demonstrated significantlygreater IJVVI, seems be caused by pressure. These may at higher risk develop nervous system diseases related cerebral outflow obstruction. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Clin Ultrasound, 2008.
