摘要: The current natural distribution of Taxus taccata L. in Belgium is limited to a few localities the southern part country. In these localities, predominantly growing on steep, calcareous slopes, which believed be its habitat this world. Flanders, northern Belgium, considered not native and stands are interpreted there as being planted by humans or garden escapes. Holocene pollen macrofossil data for Taxus, however, show very different picture regarding abundance geographical distribution, well habitat. It appears that during Sub-boreal, grew coastal plain lower Scheldt valley, where it was carr vegetation peat. Before end seems have disap peared from region, most probably because transition (raised) bogs. only case such observations been made. other areas northwestern Europe, also had completely ecology past, especially Sub-boreal. An overview palaeobotanical finds here given, supplemented with neighbouring regions. palaeo discussed broader northwest European context.
