摘要: This study monitored the biodiversity of microbes cultured from a heterogeneous biofilm which had formed on lumen section dental waterline tubing over period 910 days. By day 2 bacterial counts outlet-water showed that contamination system occurred. After 14 days, comparable to clinical waterlines, consisting bacteria, fungi and amoebae formed. proprietary silver coating applied luminal surface commercial failed prevent formation. Molecular barcoding isolated culturable microorganisms some degree diversity taxa in biofilm, including opportunistic pathogen Legionella pneumophila. Whilst used for isolation identification contaminating may underestimate organisms their similarity those found environment makes this promising test-bed future biocide testing.
