摘要: ABSTRACT Background The authors reviewed the clinical features, epidemiology, pathogenesis and risk factors, medical management, dental findings management of patients with restless legs syndrome (RLS). Types Studies Reviewed conducted a MEDLINE search for years 2000 through 2004 using key terms “restless syndrome,” “epidemiology,” “pathophysiology,” “treatment” “dentistry.” They selected articles published in English peer-reviewed journals further review, they gave preference to reporting randomized controlled trials. Conclusions RLS is neurological disorder that characterized by unpleasant sensations occur at rest, especially bedtime. These symptoms cause an irresistible urge get out bed move relieve discomfort, thereby delaying sleep onset resulting fatigue dysphoria next day. Clinical Implications prevalence disease may be extensive because diminished salivary flow from medications used treat RLS. Patient education, saliva substitutes anticaries agents are indicated.
