摘要: Squamous cell carcinoma of the ocular conjunctiva is a relatively rare malignancy which attended by high rate local recurrence following simple surgical excision. To date, management conjunctival squamous cancer has been controversial. From 1950 to 1985, 146 consecutive patients with superficial were treated at Queensland Radium Institute. All excision visible lesion followed adjunctive radiotherapy. Of 140 histologically confirmed cancer, 123 strontium-90 source, 10 radon "ring," and 7 X ray therapy. Standard policy since 1960 deliver an incident dose 30 Gy in single fraction within first 48 post-operative hours bed using source on stand-off eye applicator. This report will largely focus who whom 107 received Gy, 14 40 (pre 1960) one patient each 20 25 dose. 131 evaluable patients, there only 3 developed recurrence. recurrences elderly men had presented extensive primary tumors. Two three occurred two doses less than Gy. Both early late radiation-induced complications ablative surgery treatment very uncommon. Three unsightly telangiectasia, 2 persistent scleral ulcer clinically significant cataracts. negligible degree treatment-related side effects contrasts experience previously ring, 8 serious complications, although none On basis our excellent control rates minimal morbidity we would continue advocate use beta radiation from as definitive for cancer.
