摘要: The research reported here comprises an empirical investigation of the phenomenon typographic allusion. In a preliminary study, subjects rated perceptual qualities possessed by different typefaces (e.g. heavy-light, fast-slow). results indicated that agreed as to typeface characteristics and were distinguished such qualities. Expt 1, undertook speeded decision task in which they responded according one four adjectives appeared tachistoscopically. Each word whose either consistent or inconsistent with its meaning. Reaction times for stimuli significantly slower than those trials. preparation 2, same rating procedure was used elicit subjects' judgements attributes animals. Subjects animals' reliably between names these animals then targets binary each possessing congruent incongruent animal. whether considered animal presented on trial be heavy light, fast slow moving. Responses trials conflicting responses when congruent. These are discussed relation current views regarding processing written English. We argue features words able access semantic code this can interact derivation linguistic specifying word's meaning and/or post-lexical processes.
