摘要: Infection is the second most common cause of prosthetic joint failure. Signs and symptoms associated with infection may develop weeks or even years following arthroplasty. While some patients present findings consistent acute septic arthritis, many pain alone. Morbidity cost repeat surgery, prolonged medical treatment immobilization render importance to accurate timely diagnosis, appropriate infection. No consensus exists, however, in terms cost–effective diagnostic methods ideal and/or surgical interventions. This review describes tests available for gives a practical approach this challenging clinical entity.
