Reconciling climate change leadership with resource nationalism and regional vulnerabilities: a case-study of Kazakhstan

摘要: This contribution explores how climate change is presented in one of the most established Kazakhstani newspapers, Kazakhstanskaya Pravda. Using quantitative and qualitative frame analyses, we explore patterns communication through focus on framing science, consequences, responsibilities. We argue that resource nationalism shapes discussion Kazakhstan with emerging as a state-controlled ‘resource’. also identify coverage national international responsibilities reflective Kazakhstan’s geopolitical vulnerabilities arising from its ambiguous relationship Russia well attempts at presenting itself being front global sustainable development.
