摘要: Abstract Anticyclonic eddies propagating southwestward in the Alaskan Stream (AS) were investigated through analysis of altimetry data from satellite observations during 1992–2006 and hydrographic profiling float 2001–06. Fifteen long-lived identified categorized based on their area first appearance. Three present at beginning observations; another three formed eastern Gulf Alaska off Sitka, Alaska; four detected head near Yakutat, Alaska. The other five along AS between 157° 169°W, named eddies. While that mainly decayed before exiting Alaska, mostly crossed 180° meridian reached western subarctic gyre.
