摘要: Total body irradiation of mice is a commonly used research technique; however, humane endpoints have not been clearly identified. This situation has led to the inconsistent use various endpoints, including death. To address this issue, we refined cageside observation-based scoring system specifically for receiving total irradiated. Male and female C57BL/6 (age, 8 wk) received 1 3 doses radiation from 2 different sources were observed progression clinical signs. All scored individually by using observations their posture (score, 0 3), eye appearance (0 activity level 3). Retrospective analysis observation score data indicated that death could be predicted accurately with scores 7 or greater, consistent between observers. can increase endpoint criteria in murine studies ultimately improve animal welfare.
