摘要: Abstract The susceptibilities of Plasmodium falciparum to chloroquine, mefloquine, quinine and sulfadoxine/ pyrimethamine were investigated in Mogadishu 1988, after chloroquine resistance had spread widely Somalia. Possible correlations the responses these drugs also investigated. Standard World Health Organization vitro micro-tests performed. Of 76 isolates tested for susceptibility, 58 (76%) resistant drug with mean EC50 EC99 values 1 · 06 × 10−6 mol/litre 10 44 blood, respectively, indicating a high prevalence degree resistance. In contrast, all inhibited by mefloquine 3·2 at 2·56 −6 blood-medium mixture, sulfadoxine/pyrimethamine 6 0 075 mol/ litre full sensitivity 3 drugs. However, significant positive correlation was found between those mefloquine; not correlated. results may suggest that sites responsible are shared but essentially mefloquine. Thus evolution together increased use treatment P. increase risks development resistance, whereas would be triggered
