Metal oxide additives for the sintering of silicon carbide: Reactivity and densification

摘要: Abstract The effectiveness of sintering additives for β-SiC was examined based on thermodynamic calculations and experimental observations under hot pressing conditions 1700–1800 °C. Various types oxides, such as Al 2 O 3 , Fe MgO, TiO WO Y were theoretically by considering the Gibbs formation free energy vapor pressure. According to expanded their binary ternary systems after at 1750 °C 20 MPa, mixed found be only effective that do not react with high temperatures. On other hand, combinations oxides because reaction forming corresponding metal carbides and/or silicides, predicted simulations. Moreover, results additional possible components also included.
