摘要: Bicortical screw fixation after bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) of the mandible is commonly used in orthognathic surgery and allows many advantages compared with osteosynthesis wires maxillomandibular fixation. Complications include early loosening, hardware exposition, skeletal instability or relapses, persistent nerve impairments, infection, scar formation. This article based on a retrospective analysis complications bicortical observed 241 consecutive patients dento-skeletal Class III, corresponding to 482 sides, during immediate postoperative period at 1, 3, 6, 12 months' follow-up. In period, poor stability caused by loosening was 3 (0.62%) sides; 1-month follow-up, infections were encountered (2.48%) sides mandibular angles. Additional not seen series. Stability found months. However, directly related screws 15 3.11%. Age gender correlated incidence complications. Assiduous follow-up 1 2 months recommended BSSO verify adequate oral hygiene provide observation onset any infections, instabilities, relapses.
