摘要: Bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) is an effective and commonly used treatment to correct mandibular hypo- hyperplasia. Hypoesthesia of the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) a common complication this surgical procedure. This prospective multi-centre study aimed determine incidence neurosensory disturbances IAN after BSSO procedures performed without use chisels. Our group comprised 158 patients, with follow-up period 1 year, who underwent (with or Le Fort I) that incorporated separators splitters but no The percentage resulted in damage was 5.1%. patients (without genioplasty) experienced 8.9%. concomitant genioplasty combination significantly associated hypoesthesia. Peri-operative removal wisdom tooth I procedure did not influence post-operative We believe splitting forceps elevators chisels leads lower persistent hypoesthesia year mandible, increasing risk bad split.
