摘要: In bilateral sagittal split osteotomy the proximal and distal segments of mandible are traditionally separated using chisels. Modern modifications include prying spreading with splitters. This study investigates lingual fracture patterns status nerve after (SSO) traditional chisel technique compares these results earlier studies splitter technique. Lingual fractures SSO in cadaveric pig mandibles were analysed a scale scoring system. Iatrogenic damage to inferior alveolar was assessed. Fractures started through caudal cortex more frequently group. group showed posterior fractures, although this difference not statistically significant. Nerve present three cases group, but observed A trend apparent, that instead resulted lines, Both techniques reliable patterns. Splitting without chisels could prevent damage, therefore we propose separators. However, caution should be exercised when extrapolating clinic.
