摘要: Purpose The true fracture line on the mandibular ramus after sagittal split osteotomy cannot be observed using conventional x-ray techniques such as an orthopantomography. aim of this study was to observe lines by 3-dimensional computed tomography. Patients and Methods subjects were 30 patients with prognathism (7 men 23 women). Their ages ranged from 17 45 years (mean age, 24 years). Osteotomy performed 3 techniques—the short medial cut, lateral cut at angle, connected cut. Sixty splits evaluated tomography 1 2 weeks postoperatively. Results fractured sites—the lingual surface, posterior border, buccal surface. No through canal observed. In relation types bone end (A, surface; B, inferior border; C, surface) sites, 36 37 surface fractures type A, 12 14 border 9 C. Conclusion A desirable splitting pattern occurred when a just above lingula angle made, extending inside mandible. These observations also proved that patterns could controlled position end.
