摘要: Abstract Corticosteroid drugs are often employed in the treatment of patients with chronic bronchitis. Although some respond favorably to such therapy, characteristics not known. Twenty-four bronchitis were treated prednisone 30 mg daily or placebo for one week each a double-blind crossover study. The following monitored before and after period: physical examination, symptoms, peripheral blood eosinophil count, sputum cell forced vital capacity (FVC), isoproterenol aerosol. Seven 24 had an FEV1 increase greater than 30% control value on but placebo. Blood count was elevated (≥350/mm3) 7 patients; 2 these improved steroid. Sputum examination revealed preponderance eosinophils 1, occasional clumps 8. 9 responded eosinophilia is good predictor favorable response steroid therapy.
