Structural Characterization of Borate Glasses Containing Zinc and Manganese Oxides

摘要: We have investigated the effect of inclusion two transition metal ions (TMI) on structure and optical properties borate glass system having composition xMnO2 – yZnO (100 x y) B2O3 (9 ≤ 12, 36 ≤y 48) prepared by melt quenched route. Thermal study using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) reveals that temperature (Tg) crystallization (Tc) glasses increases with increase content in system. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra indicate TMI produces BO3 BO4 structural units breaking boroxol (B3O6) ring. The band gap energy estimated from ultraviolet-visible shows decreasing tendency when are incorporated structure.
