摘要: Economics of education as a field began in the early sixties and has exhibited remarkable growth during last three decades. These two books capture reflect much this history. Mark Blaug, perhaps preeminent economist today, brings together collection some his most-noted work over twentyyear period (1965-85). The articles chronicle changing perspective on educational policy, research methods, and, most important, state field. A very interesting self-critical introduction highlights "The Education an Economist," part Blaug's title, by reflecting progression thinking career. book edited George Psacharopoulos eightyeight fifty-four well-known authors, with revisions, from 1985 ten-volume International Encyclopedia Education, Torsten Husen Neville Postlethwaite. economics was one twenty major areas encyclopedia, responsible for commissioning these studies. Reprinting separate volume increases their utility enormously since they were previously scattered throughout expensive reference work. Advertising bills it examination "the art field," offering first truly comprehensive review its field." Slightly more modest, editor, preface, sees "a reasonably complete stock knowledge mid1980s" (p. xvi). To assess is to field, but, course, my look at can only critically examine few dimensions.
