摘要: Background and Objectives: The understanding of high body mass index (BMI) outcomes after Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implantation continues to evolve the relationship has not been established yet. In this study, we investigated effects obesity (BMI > 30 kg/m2) on post-LVAD outcomes. HeartWare LVAD Heart Mate III were implanted. primary outcome that was measured mortality (in-hospital follow-up). secondary major adverse events. Materials Methods: At our institution, West German Vascular Center (Essen, Germany), from August 2010 January 2020, a total 210 patients received long-term LVAD. Patients stratified according BMI ≥ kg/m2 representing threshold. first group (n = 162) had an average 24.2 (±2.9), second 48) 33.9 (±3.2). Baseline demographics analysed alongside comorbidities per group. Results: Overall significantly different between obese (51.1% n 24) nonobese (55.2%, 85) (p 0.619). difference mean duration survival who expired hospital discharge insignificant (2.1 years ± 1.6, 1; 2.6 1.5, 2; p 0.29). In-hospital unvaried two groups: 1: 34 (44% out overall 1 deaths); 2: 11 (45.8% 2 deaths) 0.05). Postoperative complications non-obese (all with However, significant found regards follow-up neurological (18.5% vs. 37.8%, 0.01) thrombosis (14.7% 33.3%, 0.01), as both higher in population. Conclusion: Obesity does form barrier for terms follow up). incidence patients.
