摘要: We investigated the cathode region of free-burning argon arcs at atmospheric pressure and currents from 0.3 A up to 25 A. Apart well known diffuse mode operation we also found a more constricted form which call blue-core mode. Different diagnostic methods are simultaneously applied these modes operation, that is: emission spectroscopy in conjunction with partial LTE model for density temperature measurements; Thomson scattering electron determination; Rayleigh determination gas temperature. The large differences appearance, densities, temperatures or current formation between discharge defined by measurements.
