摘要: Abstract Objective: Almost all of what is known about the families runaways and homeless adolescents based on adolescent self-reports. The validity such research currently being questioned by policy makers. purpose this study was to compare runaway reports parent/caretaker measures parenting, family violence, conduct. Method: Reports 120 their parents/caretakers from four Midwestern states were compared parental monitoring, warmth supportiveness, rejection, physical sexual abuse, Comparison groups nonrunaway mothers in two-parent single-parent same geographical area also used for parenting conduct measures. Results: findings indicated that although there significant differences means between adults regardless status, direction present similar portraits young people. Both reported lower levels monitoring supportiveness higher rejection than comparison families. Parents/caretakers high violence abuse. Similarly, they concur regarding problems adolescents. Conclusions: suggest accurately depict troubled situations choose leave. implications recent debates involving criminalization mandatory return custody youth are discussed.
