摘要: The new International Health Regulations (IHR) require World Organization (WHO) member states to assess their core capacity for surveillance. Such reviews also have the potential identify important surveillance gaps, improve organisation of disparate systems and focus attention on upstream hazards, determinants interventions. We developed a sector review method evaluating all related activities across sector, in this case those concerned with infectious diseases New Zealand. first stage was systematic description these using newly framework classification system. Key informant interviews were conducted validate available information identified. identified 91 12 coherent categories examined. majority (n = 40 or 44%) disease systems. They covered categories, particularly more severe outcomes including resulting death hospitalisations. Except some notifiable influenza, less severe, but occurring community largely absent. There 31 (34%) risk protective factors. This area tended many gaps lack integration, partly because such operated by range different agencies, often outside health sector. fewer determinants, population size characteristics 9), interventions 11). It possible create populate workable describing single country gaps. is process that will lead identification priorities development.
