Patient Falls in Stroke Rehabilitation: A Challenge to Rehabilitation Strategies

摘要: Background and Purpose The risk of falls is very high among stroke patients, falling a major complication in rehabilitation. This study aimed to investigate the incidence, characteristics, consequences an inpatient rehabilitation setting. Methods One hundred sixty-one patients consecutively admitted geriatric unit were studied. Falls that occurred during their stay prospectively registered analyzed. Results Sixty-two (39%) suffered falls. total number was 153, which corresponds incidence rate 159 per 10 000 patient-days. Most transfers or from sitting wheelchair on some other kind furniture. Seventeen (11%) classified as result extrinsic mechanisms, 49 (32%) intrinsic falls, 39 (25%) nonbipedal position (while lying), 48 (31%) remained unclassified. No injury observed 109 153 ...
