Erythromycin lacks colon prokinetic effect in children with functional gastrointestinal disorders: a retrospective study

摘要: Background Motilin, a peptide hormone has direct excitatory effect on circular smooth muscle strips derived from the human colon. Reduced plasma motilin concentration been reported in adults with chronic constipation. Erythromycin, non-peptide receptor agonist, induces phase 3 of migrating motor complex (MMC) antro-duodenum and also reduces oro-cecal transit time. A pediatric study an improvement clinical symptoms constipation following erythromycin administration, but colon motility children not formally evaluated. We used manometry to intravenous lactobionate at 1 mg/kg motiltiy ten children.
