摘要: Abstract As water shortage has increasingly become a serious global problem, desalination using seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) is considered as sustainable source of potable sources. However, major issue on the SWRO plant generation brine that potential adverse impact due to its high salt concentration. Accordingly, it necessary develop technologies allow environmentally friendly and economically viable management brines. This paper gives an overview recent research works treat brines for beneficial use. The treatment processes have been classified into two different groups according their final purpose: 1) producing fresh 2) recovering energy. Topics in this includes membrane distillation (MD), forward (FO), pressure-retarded (PRO), electrodialysis (RED) emerging tools use brine. In addition, new approach simultaneously recover energy from introduced case study provide insight improving sustainability desalination.
