摘要: Vertebral bone marrow fat quantification using single-voxel MRS is confounded by overlapping water-fat peaks and the difference in T2 relaxation time between water components. The purposes of present study were: (i) to determine proton density fraction (PDFF) vertebral multi-TE MRS, addressing these confounding effects; (ii) investigate implications corrections with respect age dependence PDFF. Single-voxel was performed L5 body 86 subjects (54 women 32 men). To reliably extract peak from overlying peaks, mean spectrum characterized based on area measurable an a priori knowledge chemical triglyceride structure. measurements were at multiple TEs. -weighted calculated each TE. In addition, correction obtain PDFF value (T2w ) calculated. investigated studying fractions Compared PDFF, all significantly overestimated fraction. showed increased slope intercept as TE for strongly men. For women, negative association found. MRS-based should be measurement minimize effects determination, also allow simultaneous calculation T2w , which might considered additional parameter sensitive composition compartment.
