摘要: MECHANISMS ASSOCIATED WITH AGING AND AGE-RELATED DISEASE IN DROSOPHILA Melanie Ann Jones, B.S. A dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for degree Doctor Philosophy at Virginia Commonwealth University. University, 2010. Director: Dr. Michael Grotewiel Associate Professor, Department Human and Molecular Genetics Aging is an intrinsic process that independent obvious disease. In contrast to normal aging, age-related diseases are conditions typically manifest advanced ages, associated with explicit pathology cause disability premature death. We used Drosophila as a model investigate molecular-genetic mechanisms aging Age-related locomotor impairment (ARLI) serious condition elderly greatly impacts their quality life. Toward identifying genes influence ARLI, we performed forward genetic screen using mutants. This identified loss function mutant PDK1, component insulin signaling pathway. Additional mutants pathway PI3K Dp110, AKT also delayed ARLI. These results suggest role Wolfram Syndrome (WFS)
