摘要: Genetic evidence suggests that E(spl), one of the neurogenic loci Drosophila, is a gene complex comprising an as yet incompletely established number transcription units. In order to correlate various units with E(spl) functions, wild-type flies were transformed genomic DNA encoding unit m8 from mutant E(spl)D, which was known be altered in embryos carrying this allele. Transformants show same dominant enhancement spl phenotype E(spl)D itself. Since has virtually identical pattern expression m4, m5 and m7, we have determined sequence these four transcripts. The deduced protein products m5, m7 exhibit extensive homology each other. All three encode similar conserved domains representatives vertebrate myc family also present sequences Drosophila achaete-scute complex. Sequence analysis mutation revealed several lesions. One lesions deletion region upstream start site. Another lesion coding leads shorter which, addition, differs its carboxy-terminal end by presence nine amino acids.
