摘要: The polychaete Nereis virens occurs commonly in marine sediments, is widely distributed, and a popular bait species, as well potential replacement for wild-caught fish commercial feed preparations. It being considered co-extractive species culture integrated multi-trophic aquaculture operations. However, it not known whether pesticides or drugs used to treat sea lice on farmed salmon, such emamectin benzoate (EB), would adversely affect cultured wild worms, because these compounds may persist the environment. To determine effects of EB N. virens, bioassays were performed wherein worms exposed sand 30 days concentration 400 µg/kg dw (nominal). While no treatment-related mortality occurred, significant decreases worm mass marked behavioral changes (lack burrowing) observed EB-treated compared with controls. These lab-based observations suggest hazard at sites where treatments have occurred.
