摘要: Abstract Discrete element modeling was used to investigate the effect of particle size distribution on small strain shear stiffness granular soils and explore fundamental mechanism controlling this at level. The results indicate that mean has a negligible modulus. observed increase modulus with increasing is caused by scale effect. It suggested ratio sample should be larger than 11.5 avoid possible At same confining pressure void ratio, decreases as coefficient uniformity soil increases. Poisson’s decreasing instead being constant commonly assumed. Microscopic analyses depend uniquely soil’s coordination number.
