摘要: Associations between symptom subtypes, life skills, olfactory identification, and neuropsychological ability were investigated in patients with schizophrenia related to observations of poor personal hygiene implied functional compromise orbitofrontal integrity. Twenty-seven men chronic assessed using the Positive Negative Syndrome Scale for Schizophrenia Life Skills Profile. Performance on University Pennsylvania Smell Identification Test (UPSIT), Modified Wisconsin Card Sorting (MWCST), delayed response/alternation, memory tasks derived from Wechsler Memory Scale—Revised (WMS-R) was also compared that an age-, sex-, IQ-matched control group. Patient UPSIT, MWCST, WMS-R performance significantly impaired comparison controls. Poor UPSIT self-care associated negative symptoms. Also, MWCST both controls, whereas association only found normal subjects rather than schizophrenia. The importance these findings postulated mechanisms involving prefrontal mediotemporal lobe (MTL) function are discussed, as is relevance use smell identification subtype rehabilitative strategies.
