摘要: In this paper, the role of human bodily experience in generation metaphors language and thought is investigated through empiric linguistic psycholinguistic studies on DESIRE IS HUNGER metaphor. Based Grady’s hypothesis (1997), which suggests a direct link between recurrence universal particular experiences primitive conceptual metaphors, we how American English Brazilian Portuguese speakers metaphorically conceptualize desire terms hunger. Our results were congruent with hypothesis, showing that what people know about their embodied hunger allows them both to predict aspects will, will not, be of, talked about, understandings hunger, understand metaphorical expressions desires, such as politicians for power or these children affection. Moreover, analyzed metaphor productivity, was shown very high also employed different discourse genres many areas knowledge, languages.
